Week 2 - Dawn's Fitness/Wellness Journey

Updated: May 1

I had my weigh in on Saturday. I lost 4.4 lbs, Without exercising - unless you count unpacking boxes. So this week - I want to talk to you about how to get started. 1) Portion control/serving sizes -- Read those labels. I use flavored creamer in my coffee every day. Before WW, I would pour it in until my coffee was very light. Come to find out - I only need 1 tbsp. It has the same taste. Read those labels. Use your measuring spoons. Use your food scale. 2) Write down everything that goes into your mouth. That will help keep you accountable.

A few things I didnt know/learned until I started WW

  1. Your brain does not know the difference between hungry and thirsty. If you just ate or it hasnt been that long - and you think you want something to eat, drink a glass of water first. Wait 15 minutes. Still hungry? Grab some fruit or something fat free (small). Are you no longer hungry? You were just thirsty.

  2. The old addage is true. You eat with your eyes first. When I use my 'special' 1 pt a slice bread - it is very thin. Since I only use 1-2 slices of lunch meat (be careful about your processed foods - that is a different day), my sandwich looks little and my eyes tell my stomach that is not enough. BUT if I put on it: Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, mushrooms, sprouts, etc - now I have the Dagwood. The picture is for reference (from the Blondie cartoon. Dagwood Bumstead would make this sandwich for himself.) If I put my version of the Dagwood - all I said above on a small plate, now my eyes tell my stomach, "WOW LOOK AT ALL THAT FOOD!" In reality, its just a sandwich and its only 2-4 points, maybe. WOOOOO. (Considering I only get 23 pts for a day)

OK = now lets get you a recipe. I love using my crock pot. Set it and forget it. Tonights Dinner - Chicken enchilada casserole 2-4 chicken breasts (boneless skinless) 0 pts 2 cans of enchilada sauce 0pts 10 corn tortillas (about 3 pts) Black olives (handful maybe - 1 pt) Fat Free shredded cheese - 1 pkg Kraft cheddar is really good (2 pt)

Put the chicken and sauce in your crockpot and put on high for 4 hrs, or low 8 hrs Shred with fork Add 1/2 the cheese and cut the tortillas in strips and stir all that in your chicken. Add rest of cheese and some olives (sliced or chopped) and green onion if desired. Cook on high 40 minutes more. Can serve with Fat Free Refried Beans (0 pts) SUPER YUMMY Next week - another update and a recipe. What would you like me to make healthier for you?
