It’s hard to believe everything we’ve been through—it feels like something out of a story. But I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. If you’ve been facing hardship, loss, or a string of challenges, you probably feel the same.
For me, the struggles began in May 2022. My 88-year-old mom suffered a stroke and collapsed, remaining undiscovered for 15 hours. At first, the responders thought she had passed. But as they were loading her into the ambulance, a medic found a pulse. That moment gave me hope, but it also marked the beginning of a long and difficult journey. I left my home in Tennessee to stay by her side in Ohio for eight months. During that time, I witnessed both her resilience and my own limits. It was an exhausting but necessary journey.
When I finally returned home, just as I thought life might stabilize, Gary, my husband, faced his own tragedies. His mom fell ill and passed away on Mother’s Day in May 2023. And as we were still processing that loss, his dad passed just six months later in November.
Then came 2024, and life didn't hold back. In January, I was rushed to the hospital with severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with a life-threatening gallbladder and pancreatic infection. I spent 12 days in the hospital, underwent three surgeries, and came home to weeks of recovery, heavily medicated and barely able to function.
While I was trying to heal, in February, Gary had surgery. Not even a week later, he suffered a heart attack. We thought that was the worst of it—until, in April, doctors found a mass during another hospital stay. Since then, Gary has been going through chemotherapy and continues to battle medical emergencies, including another heart attack as recently as July.
It’s been an overwhelming few years. Every time we thought we’d hit rock bottom, the ground would crumble beneath us once more. But amidst all this suffering, we found hope. It was during this dark time that we knew we had to make changes—big ones. We overhauled our environment, our diet, our daily habits. Everything we thought we were doing right turned out to be wrong. But the good news is, we turned it around. And now, we’re here to help you turn it around too.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
No one ever truly prepares for these kinds of hardships. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that even when it feels like the world is against you, there is a path forward. I’ve lived through loss, setbacks, medical scares, and personal battles—and emerged stronger on the other side.
Through Better Days with Teri, I want to guide you toward that same strength. Whether you’re struggling with grief, illness, or just the weight of life’s unpredictable challenges, I’ve been where you are. And I can show you how to get to a place of hope and healing.
Gary and I have found a way to not only survive but to thrive, even after everything we’ve been through. We remain positive, and we’re grateful for the miracles we’ve witnessed in our lives. And now, I believe it’s my purpose to share that hope and help others navigate their own storms.
