Is Your Kitchen Feeding Disease?

If you’re anything like I was, your kitchen used to be a place of comfort, convenience… and a whole lot of processed chaos. There were quick meals, sugary snacks, microwave dinners, and things we couldn’t even pronounce on the labels. We were fed the message that if it tastes good, that’s good enough.
But let me tell you something that changed everything for me — something that may just change everything for you, too:
Your kitchen can either feed disease… or fight it. It can drain your energy… or restore it. It can bring you closer to healing… or keep you stuck in pain.
Let’s go back to the beginning.
When my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer — inoperable, incurable — we were devastated. The doctors gave us the worst-case scenario. It felt like our world had collapsed. But something inside me refused to accept that this was the end. I didn’t know much at the time, but I knew this: God gave us bodies that want to heal. And I needed to learn how to help that happen.
So I got in there. To say I leaned in is an understatement. I studied. I took classes. I asked hard questions. And I learned that the very thing we do every day — eat — was either moving us toward disease or toward healing. And as embarrassed as I am to say our home including my moms was filled with horrible things.
And that’s when our kitchen changed. Not just the groceries, but the intention behind every meal. Today, I want to share with you what I’ve learned — because I believe someone out there needs this message like I did.
Food Is Information, Not Just Fuel
Let’s start here: food tells your body what to do. Every bite you take sends a signal — to your brain, to your cells, to your immune system. You're either telling it to thrive or to fight.
I know that sounds simple, maybe even too simple, but imagine this:
When you eat processed foods filled with chemicals and additives, your body goes into defense mode. Fight mode.
When you eat healing foods — fruits, vegetables, whole grains, herbs — your body goes into repair mode. Fixing issues inside you.
That’s not cocka. That’s science. And it saved my husband’s life.
What's In Your Kitchen Right Now?
Let’s be honest for a second. What’s in your pantry or fridge that your great-grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food?
Things like:
Boxes of artificial mac & cheese
Canned soups loaded with sodium and preservatives
Snacks with ingredient lists longer than your grocery receipt
I had to face this in my own home. I threw out garbage I had paid good money for — but it was costing me more than cash. It was costing us our health. And honest most were empty calories, just stuff to eat. Not really any plan at all for what we were consuming.
And then I replaced those things with real, healing options. Things like:
Fresh greens
Garlic and turmeric (nature’s anti-inflammatories)
Berries (antioxidant powerhouses)
Sweet potatoes, beans
Organic bone broth made from scratch
Herbal teas that soothe the gut and the soul
We no longer live to eat. We now, eat to live — Just Start Somewhere
Look, I didn’t wake up one day and become a holistic nutritionist or a health guru. I was a woman desperate to save her family. I was tired, scared, and broke in all the wrong places — spiritually, emotionally, and physically.
But I made one decision at a time. One meal at a time. One label read at a time.
And slowly, healing started to happen. My energy came back. My mindset shifted. And yes — my husband, who was told there was no hope, went into remission. The mass? Gone. Our faith? Stronger. Our mission? Clearer than ever.
Quick Ways to Start Using Your Kitchen as a Medicine Cabinet:
Here’s how to begin — today.
✅ Add, Don’t Just Subtract
Instead of focusing on cutting everything out, start by adding in healing foods. The more you add, the more room you make for health.
✅ Keep It Simple
Keep it simple, fancy recipes are unnecessary. A plate with lean protein, colorful vegetables, and healthy fats is a win. Your body understands real food — let it do the rest.
✅ Stay Hydrated
Water preferably alkaline water in my opinion, the most underrated medicine. Add lemon, cucumber, or mint for extra benefits and flavor.
✅ Spice It Up
Turmeric, ginger, garlic, cayenne — they don’t just make your food taste amazing, they reduce inflammation and fight disease.
✅ Bless Your Food
It might sound old-fashioned, but gratitude has power. Take a moment to be thankful. It shifts your mindset and prepares your body to receive healing.
Let Me Leave You With This…
If you’re struggling with your health right now…If you're tired of pills with side effects, surgeries with complications, or doctors saying “this is as good as it gets” or worse this will never ago away it is incurable…Then take heart. There’s more within your control than you realize.
Your kitchen doesn’t have to be a place of stress, guilt, or empty calories.
It can be your sanctuary. Your healing ground. Your first aid kit. Your medicine cabinet.
You have the power to heal — and it starts one meal, one choice, one ingredient at a time.
And remember, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m walking this path too, and I’m here to remind you: Better days aren’t behind you. They’re just beginning. 💛 please subscribe to our page and be the first to know.
